What is a GPU server?
A Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) was originally rendered as a processor specialized for graphics; however, recently these have evolved into computational accelerators or companion processors optimized for computationally-intensive scientific and technical applications.
GPU Computing is the use of a GPU coupled with a conventional CPU to boost performance and accelerate processing of scientific, analytics, engineering, consumer, and enterprise applications. A conventional CPU consists of four to eight cores, while a GPU consists of hundreds of smaller cores. These GPU cores fill the gap between CPU cores, and, together they operate to crunch through the data in the application. This parallel architecture results in high compute performance. Thereby, delivering maximum performance from a minimal financial investment, software license redundancies, and physical/carbon footprint.
